Every morning I wake up and make my sons school lunch. While I’m putting together a PB & J almost on a daily basis, I am rather uninterested in them myself. I appreciate hot food much more than the sandwich. So when I have to figure out what I am going to have for lunch that day – I end up stuck. I certainly don’t have the time or the energy to prepare myself a meal in the day, so frozen meals are my go-to. I recently discovered the newest Jimmy Dean® frozen entrees that are both delicious, and quick.
I know what you’re thinking.. Jimmy Dean is breakfast, right? like – sausage? Not anymore! The Jimmy Dean brand is expanding beyond breakfast and introducing NEW frozen lunch and dinner offerings, available in sixteen great-tasting varieties.
I bought a few of them myself, and had a little taste test. See, I’m fairly picky about my food, especially the taste of the frozen entrees. If it feels like I’m eating powdered, fake food – I’m definitely not interested. I purchased the Jimmy Dean Smoked Bacon Mac & Cheese, and the Jimmy Dean Delights Hickory Smoked Ham Bowl.
I opened up the Jimmy Dean Smoked Bacon Mac & Cheese, I was absolutely thrilled to see large chunks of real cheese, and real bacon. The Hickory Smoked Ham Bowl also looked quite great: real potatoes, large chunks of ham – and peas.
Don’t worry: I didn’t eat all of each of these. In fact: I heated them up at work on my lunch break, and everyone had a little sample of each. The overall consensus was about the same: Ah-Ma-Zing. Everyone loved that the mac & cheese had real cheese and how it didn’t turn chalky like some of the microwave macaroni that they’ve had previously. They also loved that the potato did not taste like it had been frozen and then re-heated, which is impressive. Also the sauce for this one was really good.
The Jimmy Dean Delights are fantastic because they pull in at 300 calories or less per bowl! The Hickory Smoked Ham Bowl was only 250 calories and had 12 grams of protein, which is perfect to keep your body moving through the rest of your work day!
Overall, I highly recommend the Jimmy Dean® and Jimmy Dean Delights® frozen lunch or dinner entrées. They are really inexpensive and can be found at the Frozen Convenience Food’s section at Walmart!
