When entertaining for family and friends, I’m always looking for a creative type of munchy-snack that is both easy to make and terribly delicious. I love a great Chex Mix Recipe for snacks because they’re so simple, and produce amazing results. You really can’t go wrong with whatever you put in your mix!
Buffalo Chex Mix: A Delicious Crunchy Snack with All the Flavor (But Much Less Mess!) than Buffalo Wings! Perfect for your next Party Snack!
We recently had friends over for a game night: and I was looking for my next awesome snacky recipe. I was talking with a friend about it and she said that at her Superbowl Party, someone had brought a Buffalo Chex Mix. Oh my word that sounded amazing! So of course I had to try it.
I found several variations of recipes on pinterest, but finally picked one based on what I had. It had an awesome flavor but I still think that it could have had a little more spice to it: since my 6yo could handle it with no problem (the kid who won’t eat garlic toast because it’s too spicy!) so feel free to add more franks hot sauce. Also, this one you can’t exactly enjoy straight from the oven or microwave: but rather about an hour or so after – giving the chex a chance to harden up a bit. This recipe can also be made a few days in advance, stored in an air-tight container.
Buffalo Chex Mix Recipe:
4 cups Rice Chex cereal
4 cups Wheat Chex cereal
2 cups pepper-jack flavored Cheez-It’s
2 cups pretzel twists or sticks
6 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo Wings Sauce
1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix (Regular or Spicy!)
In Large bowl mix cereals, crackers and pretzels. Set aside. In small microwavable bowl: melt butter, stir in hot sauce and seasonings. Pour over cereal mixture – stirring until evenly coated.
You can place this in the microwave or the oven.
Microwave: Be sure you’re using a microwave safe bowl in the first step: mix the ingredients together and microwave uncovered for 4-5 minutes, stirring every two minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool.
Oven: Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Pour mixed cereal onto large baking sheet. bake for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through. Allow pan and mix to cool.
