If you are looking for some fantastic toys for your toddlers and preschoolers this summer, make sure you check out Little Tikes! We’ve had the pleasure of checking out two new toys from their Fun Zone as well as the awesome Build-a-House (next review!). The Fun Zone Splash Face and Dual Twister ROCK!
The Fun Zone is a collection of toys that are perfect for summer fun. The fun is amplified by adding water! Some of the toys can be used inside or without water as well. I think all of the Fun Zone toys look like a blast, and we had a blast trying out two of them.
Fun Zone Splash Face
The Fun Zone Splash Face is like Tug-of-War with water involved. Kids grab opposing handles and pull to tilt the middle lever toward themselves. When the lever tips toward the winner, the loser gets sprayed by water. The spray shoots about stomach level on my preschoolers, enough to soak them without getting their faces badly. My 5 year old absolutely LOVES this game. I love that he’s enjoying himself while increasing his upper body strength and coordination. My 3 year old isn’t a fan of getting sprayed (and she loses every time since she’s smaller), but she’s figured out how to shift herself sideways and avoid most of the spray.
A few times both kids have gone up against me (they lose, muahahaha) and they love the challenge. Splash Face has impressed me with it’s durability to stand up both to the kids being crazy with it, and to both kids pulling against an adult.
The Splash Face set up is super easy and quick, just place two pins to hold the base together, pick a place in the yard, pound in 4 spikes to hold it down, and attach the hose. Then play! Depending on the pressure coming through the hose, the spray can range from light to powerful.
The spikes seem really long, and they hold in really well while kids are pulling every which way on the rope. Pick up is also really easy. Pull straight up on the spikes individually, detach the hose, and fold up the two sides of the base to make it skinny enough to tuck away easily.
Fun Zone Dual Twister
The Dual Twister is another new favorite, both indoors and out. With the same concept of the sit ‘n spin I remember from when I was a kid, one or two kids can sit on the dual twister and use the middle to propel themselves around in circles until they are too dizzy to continue. It’s upper fun and fits both my 5 and 3 year old easily. I love the specific places for the to put their feet, both to direct their legs so they don’t get tangled in each other, and to give them an additional support for balance and strength.
The Fun Zone part of the Dual Twister is the ability to add water. Simply connect a hose and the water can either shoot up from two spots on the sides, or fountain up out of the middle. Switch between the middle and the sides easily by pulling up or popping down the middle of the handle portion. And control the height/strength of the water spray by setting your water pressure (it takes very little water pressure to make a nice little fountain/spray, or turn it up to get really soaking).
Again, my 5 year old absolutely adores this toy. He loves spinning in circles, and loves getting wet. I like to stand at the hose and randomly turn up the pressure to surprise him with a sudden soak while he’s spinning. The middle button/switch is easy for him to pop down, a little more difficult to pull up but he is able to do it. His sister is less interested in getting wet, but will happily spin (and spin and spin and spin) with him if the water is off.
The set up for this couldn’t be any easier! No screws or anything, just pop the middle pieces in places and enjoy! It’s lightweight, so it’s easy to move it between inside and outside, or tuck it away when we are done playing for the day. The plastic feels high quality and durable, and has stood up well to my (very active) 5 year old being very NOT gentle to it.
I ABSOLUTELY recommend both of these toys as great additions to your toy collection! We love Little Tikes at our house and have many toys that have lasted years and are still so much fun! Check them and more out online as well as on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Enjoy!
