While the summer months have disappeared, if you are on the lookout for your next adventure vacation for summer 2020, look no further! When on the lookout for a great family adventure, you’ve got to cast your net wide. It’s not just about the things that you think everyone will like, but it’s about exposing yourself to new and exciting situations. But that doesn’t mean you cannot have fun at the same time! But if you want your family vacation to be truly successful, you’ve got to provide something for everyone, but make sure you come away with a lot of great memories! Let’s give you a few ideas for family adventures that really, everyone needs to try.
Hitting A National Park
The big national parks in America give you all that diverse vacation experience. Far from it just being a place to view wildlife, you can do so much in the big national parks. You can go cross country skiing in Yellowstone National Park but you can also do plenty of other things. You can go hiking, and there are plenty of options for the novice hiker all the way through to the experienced, but if this sounds like the epitome of boredom you could go biking! It’s a perfect way to witness the sights, and if you want to, get a guided bicycle tour. If you want to go boating, either with a raft or canoe, it’s a perfect summer pastime to get everybody’s appetite wet-ed! As well as this, the experience of a national park means that you get up close to nature and if you are used to a comfortable suburban living, a national park is certainly a diverse package.
Head south!
No, we’re not talking about Alabama, a bit further than that! Australia is one of the bucket list destinations we’ve all got to take off. For an adventurous family, Sydney provides more than its fair share of attractions. You can go to the Sydney Harbor Bridge, Bondi Beach and of course, to the Sydney Opera House, but if you want something a bit more visceral, you can go kayaking in the Harbor, or swing across a zip line or two in Sydney Olympic Park. If you are looking for animals, and you want something beyond the typical tiger, go to the Australian Reptile Park and wildlife sanctuary just outside of Sydney, and gaze upon koalas, kangaroos, and wombats. If you don’t want to head that far south, Costa Rica gets you closer to nature, giving you and the kids to navigate the greenery with a little bit of danger thrown in for good measure! Gliding through trees on a zip line gives you that chance to experience nature a close, but you can also take it a bit slower by strolling along the Sky Walk, a hanging bridge that goes through Montverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve.
Hit The Waters
If you are a family of surfers, then surely, Hawaii has to form part of your plans? While it’s an incredibly picturesque place, and provides more beauty in one sunset than arguably anywhere else on earth, but if you want to go beyond the tropical-ness, head to Kauai and go surfing in Hanalei Bay. For those people looking to fulfill their adrenaline addiction, they could venture to the Queen’s Bath on the north shore of the island, and jump in the tide pool. There are also plenty of other recreational pursuits for the amateur adventurer like snorkeling, zip-lining, and sea kayaking. If you want to see the tropical paradise that is Hawaii, you’ve got to go all in!
Go On Horseback
There’s nothing quite like the thrill of sitting astride a steed speeding at 30 or 40 miles! Glacier National Park in Montana has something for every family member! You could go on the 5-day Glacier Family Multi-Adventure Camping Tour, and experience the snow-capped peaks and waterfalls of this glistening national treasure. As well as this, you can go hiking in the snow along Grinnell Glacier. But for our money, horseback riding in Glacier Valley is something that really needs to be experienced to be believed. If you want your taste of winter, putting you through your paces, and feeling it in the pit of your chest, you can’t really beat this! And while it may sound like a major physical expedition, when you see just how photogenic the Logan Pass is, you’ll be glad you went!
For The Daredevil Child…
Some children have a sense of adventure that is unparalleled! It’s difficult to top Queenstown in New Zealand because of the sheer choice you have at your disposal. If your children are junkies of the most adventurous kind, you need to get onto the skyline Queenstown, the cable car that goes 1,500 feet above the city, and provides plenty of Instagram friendly opportunities. Head a little bit further out from Queenstown and go skiing or snowboarding at the Remarkables. You can only do this during the winter months but bear in mind this is between June and September! If you are fed up with long hot summers, this is a perfect opportunity for next year! But for the heat seekers, you can go paragliding, feeling the breeze rush through your hair, at a soaring height.
For The Wilder Amongst You
Go on safari and get your fill of wildlife, and in Nairobi, Kenya, you could go to the Samburu National Reserve, and get yourself involved with the game drives, camel treks, and even go walking with Samburu warriors! And, yes there’s plenty of wildlife to gaze upon. From lions to leopards, giraffes to elephants, there is plenty for anyone to experience nature in its most visceral form up close.
Family adventures can be exciting without having to navigate a rainforest or go down a zip line, but if you have a family of daredevils, and want the adventure of a lifetime, rest assured, there is plenty out there to choose from! You will never have more amazing experience in your entire life than when you and your children explore the world, and you see the look in their eyes because you’ve truly opened them up to something completely different!
