So just over three weeks ago, I talked with you all about the challenge that my family and I are working on: Brushing and Flossing better, and including Listerine Smart Rinse for my husband and I. Check out my first post about the Listerine Smart Rinse Challenge.
After the gentle reminder to floss my boys’ teeth – I realized (again!) just how much plaque does hide in between their little teeth. Andrew’s gums definitely already showed some signs of gingivitis – which I was determined to turn around.
I vowed to pay much more attention to their teeth, because I do not want to have to torture them in the dental chair to get fillings done: I mean – it’s bad enough getting them in the chair, PERIOD.
I have to admit: It wasn’t easy, and there were still days where I completely forgot about my boys’ teeth, or even my own before bed time. (Shh!! Don’t tell my Hygienist!) but overall – I saw great improvement.
The poster that I put in the boys’ room helped a LOT though. It was probably the biggest thing keeping us on track with his teeth. I regularly would start tucking the boys into bed, and just as I was leaving the bed, I’d see that poster – and run and grab his toothbrush and quickly brush and floss his teeth.
My husband is a huge fan of the Reach Access Flosser – because it allows him to floss one handed. I hate to admit (and I don’t recommend) – that Joe uses his flosser in the car on his way to and from work. BUT at least he does it
My husband and I have been rinsing every day with the Listerine Smart Rinse, to add that extra fluoride layer to the teeth, to help protect them from decay. I don’t like getting dental work any more than most of you all do! In fact, I *hate* the dentists chair – so I do my best to stay out of it!
Overall – I’m happy to have become more aware of our Oral Hygiene in the house – and having some great tools to do the job. Over the next several weeks and months, I am starting a new area on my blog specifically dedicated to teeth, answering all of your oral hygiene and dental questions, and doing several tutorials. Stay Tuned!
Meanwhile, Check out Listerine Smart Rinse for your family, and print off your $1.00 off coupon. To help protect against decay and gingivitis, add a few extra minutes a day for a complete oral care routine that includes brushing, flossing and rinsing!
I received products from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the Listerine Smart Rinse Sweet Smart Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.

I wouldn’t mind trying that flosser myself. I feel like I waste a ton every time I floss.
Amy says
It’s not waste if you’re using it 😉
but the flosser is good, and even better if you’re not a regular flosser!

My 5 year old grandson worries about his teeth and I’m so glad he does. He uses the Listering Smart Rinse twice daily and brushes 2x a day. It really is so important to make sure they have great oral hygiene

I am on the fence with these flossers. Part of me likes the convenience, but I really do like the old dental floss too… Great job on the challenge.

I wish they’d made the Reach Access flosser when I was younger-I never would’ve gotten any cavities!

flossing was always so difficult for my older kids. Luckily my youngest loves it 🙂

Remember when the cast of “SNL” came on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show”, to support her with the Listerine charity donations? So funny when Cheri Oteri and Will Ferrell did their cheerleaders!
Robin Wilson says
I know that flossing is so important, but I have great difficulty. The floss always seems to get caught in between some of my teeth and I cannot get it out! It will rip and fray and it scares me to death! Thanks to Lupus and over 30 years of steroids and other nasty meds, my teeth are pretty fragile. If you have any suggestions….

I would try a Sonicare Air Flosser – They’re really cool – and better than Not Flossing. I’ll be posting about it soon 🙂
