Today marks the end of the first half of the school year. While school has taken a while to get accustomed to, we for sure have got it down. I almost like it a little too much! I’m still new to this whole school-thing, but I really want to be sure I’m not slacking in the gift-giving department for my kids’ teachers to show them how much I *really* appreciate them. Therefore I took a little time out yesterday creating and gifting some Chex Party Mix snacks (and Caribou Coffee gift cards, of course!) for the teachers.
Last week Chex sent a box filled with beautiful goodies for me to make some Chex Party Mix and make it beautiful at the same time! They also sent a couple of recipe cards – and the Peacan Pie Chex Mix sounded Amazing – So that was what I wanted to do.
Of course I started off at Target (Queue Angel Harmonies…Ahhhhhh….) because Ethan was at preschool – and what else would a mom do with her spare time with NO KIDS! I adore Target… (Ok, I’ll stop). I got all the ingredients I was missing… who would have guessed that I have made it this many years of cooking/baking and have never purchased Molases or Cloves?! Anyway, got those and some Starbucks (YuM!) and moseyed on home to get cooking before preschool let out. I love that these recipes are quick enough to do (even with a trip to Target!) while Ethan is at preschool for a measly 2 1/2 hours!
I got them all nicely packaged up for the teachers and brought them with me when I went to pick up the boys from School. Ethan was pretty excited but didn’t quite get the whole idea behind giving them: but Andrew was so thrilled to give something so awesome to his teacher. He told her that she had to wait 8 days to open it… Ha!
I adore Andrew’s Teacher and she is so good with him it just makes my heart melt when he adds her to his prayers at night and tells me how much he really loves her. I also really love the teachers at Ethan’s Preschool. Mostly the same teachers we’ve had for Sunday School all along, but they are so fantastic during the week, too. They definitely deserved a treat.
I had a little extra Chex Pecan Pie left so I left an extra little present for our super-sweet mail-lady who is so great at getting to my house and so pleasant when she has to bring something to the door for me. No cranky mail-people at my house! It just so happened that I got to see the great big smile she had when she saw the gift. (I know the sound that the mail truck makes when it’s coming down the street.. it’s sad, I know.
Anyway: It was so fun for me to give these lovely people in our lives a special treat and see their faces light up. It really improved my day probably more than theirs – which is fantastic. *WarmFuzzies*. So do yourself a favor and make the people you appreciate a special treat! It’s inexpensive and so easy!
Chex has also offered a lovely giveaway to one of you lucky people! One lucky reader will receive the same party-in-a-box that I did! Beautiful bowls from Crate and Barrel, an lovely Apron, and bags to gift your treats in – valued at around $125 – it’s a great gift.
