A few years ago {yes, bad mom-blogger moment} we had an incredible birthday party for our youngest. He was totally in-love with tractors and everything John Deere ever since grandpa John got him a dvd, ‘All About John Deere’ from a local tractor-supply store. He couldn’t get enough! We chose to host a tractor themed birthday, of course with the focus being John Deere Birthday… but any tractor will do, really!
I was searching on Pinterest for some great John Deere Birthday Party Ideas and of course fell in love with all the Etsy postings. Well… I didn’t have enough time, nor that kind of cash to spend on one birthday. So I broke out my Cricut cutter and made a ton of decorations based on those I loved on Etsy. Don’t have a Cricut? I found so many great supplies at the dollar store. I got a “milk jug”, a few farmish baskets, some candles, and a tin wagon. I used sucker sticks from Michaels and taped a few together for the height
I love incorporating toys into the food displays – so I raided my sons stash of tractors, and set them up as if they’re working on the food.
Ethan’s Birthday is in early November, and we’re still deep into apples at that point – Nothing is better on a fall day than some caramel and apples!
For our main course we had Sloppy Joes, Buns, Chips and Sweet Corn (which came out later when we were ready to eat). 
With snacks of ‘fodder’ which was puppy chow, ‘Fresh Produce’ veggies and dip, M&Ms being pulled in the tractor, and some apples and caramel from the ‘Apple Orchard’.
Then of course, the cake. We splurged for the first time on a professionally-done cake. I’ve always just made something, but I was at a loss for tractors! Our local cake bakery was pleased to help us with the John Deere cake made with cupcakes.
I don’t have great photos, but we had a tractor pinata, balloons, plates and napkins that I ordered from Birthday Express.com.
