Oh The Places You’ll Go ~ Safety Tips from Safety 1st
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 75% of car seats on the road are installed incorrectly. Here are some easy tips to think about before hitting the road.
· The safest place to install a car seat is typically in the center of the rear seat.
· The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) advises parents to keep their toddlers in rear-facing car seats until age 2. It also advises that most children will need to ride in a belt-positioning booster seat until they have reached 4 feet 9 inches tall and are between 8 and 12 years of age.
· Check in with a local Child Passenger Safety Technician to ensure your child’s seat is installed correctly. You can visit a local police station, fire station, AAA office or Safe Kids Chapter for guidance.
Where is Baby?
· It may seem like common sense but never leave a child alone in the car. Hyperthermia is a severe form of heat stroke and last year 30 children died after being left or trapped in a hot vehicle. You can learn more about this issue and easy tips to prevent it here.
Safeguard the Car
· Just as important as safe guarding your home, don’t forget about the car. Especially on long road trips. It’s important to eliminate projectiles, anything in the car that is not secured is a possible projectile. That could be a child’s toy, wet nap container, or a water bottle. In a crash, objects take on greater weight due to crash forces.
· Make sure unused shoulder belts are not in reach of children as they can pose strangulation risk.
Car Seats Expire
· Car seats expire. Especially if you get a hand-me-down car seat you should always check the expiration date to confirm the seat is safe for your child. You can find the expiration date on the back or the side of the car seat. Also, another very important tip – once a car seat has been in a crash you should not use it, plastic can warp and materials can fray. To properly dispose of a car seat check with your local waste management facility to see if they recycle number 5 plastic.
Safety 1st sent me a Grow and Go to try and share with you, opinions are 100% my own. The safety tips are directly from Safety 1st, but I totally agree with them!

This car seat looks awesome I love that it’s convertible and it looks like some of the more expensive car seats out there. I always be sure when we either get a new car seat or install one in our cars that it gets checked at a local police station. It is so important!
Heather says
This carseat looks awesome! We have been through 3 or 4 in 6 years to keep up with weight/height restrictions. One carseat for almost the entire time would be nice!

Car seat safety is very important for my family. When I had my first in 2011, I’ll admit, that I had my son strapped in the wrong way. But when I had my daughter in 2014 I had educated myself about the importance of car seat safety! My daughter is 13 months, in the correct car seat and still rear facing. Thanks for the review and giveaway!

I love this car seat! Dd has outgrown her convertible one and is in a booster but I hate how flimsy they all seem! We have 2 highback boosters and one booster (which usually stays with grandpa for the times she is over there and they decide to go somewhere). One of the highbacks is a forward facing/booster convertible and is more stable than the other but still doesn’t have much in the way of side impact protection!
Jennifer Marohn says
Here are my car seat safety tips…. (this is one of my soap boxes, so it might be a little long) You should never move your child forward facing before the age of two. Then after two you should wait until the child meets the maximum seat requirements for rear facing. Never wear bulky clothing or jackets in the car. Never use after market seat covers/harness covers. Nothing other than clothing should be between the child and the seat, unless the manufacturer says it’s fine. Chest clip should be at armpit level. Straps should pass the pinch test. Not all police/fire stations have a certified car seat tech on staff. You can visit safekids.org to find a local car seat tech in your area. Oh, and the Alpha Omega car seat is the worst car seat on the market….
ANNE perry says

Thanks for the review. It’s almost time to switch my newest addition into a bigger seat. I will keep this one in mind. I love the fact that it’s convertible. My older kiddos had infant carriers then a seat similar to this then booster seats so over those years we bought ending up buying 6 seperate seats well actually more like 10 with the other for the other car. I would love to only buy one more or 2 and call it good until the next little one of course ?

I have combed the internet for the last several hours to find the perfect car seat for my nephew and this one is amazing!!! Its so much safer for a baby to sit rear facing until they are 2 and with the way this seat reclines it looks like he will be xtra comfy even on road trips. The laws are changing here in Oklahoma in Novemeber that children must be rear facing until they are 2 so I am so excited to have found a seat that looks safe and has so many good reviews
