We’ve completed the 21 Day Fix Extreme. Check out my before post and halfway post for more information! Peter dropped out early on the workouts because his knee was getting worse instead of better. But the diet portion can be followed no matter who you are. I plan to continue doing the workouts, not every day (that’s rough man!), but frequently enough to continue getting stronger and more in shape. And I hope for our whole family to continue eating healthier foods in healthier portions.
The results of the 21 Day Fix Extreme?
I didn’t stick to the diet as strictly as someone could, and I wasn’t able to work out nearly as intensely as the people in the videos, but I do feel like I got stronger and developed better habits over the course of the three weeks. I didn’t lose more than a few pounds, but I’m right on healthy weight to start with so I didn’t expect to lose anything. I do feel like my shorts fit a little looser and my muscles work a little stronger. Nothing as extreme as the before and after photos online, but I feel healthier. Even better, my brain knows much better what food groups and portion sizes are healthy for us and our kids. I’m excited to be able to continue to eat healthy as well as to have the workout DVDs to continue working out.
If you have joints that are healthy enough for extreme workouts and are looking for a solid, work-you-as-hard-as-you-can program that also encourages and enables healthy eating habits, the 21 Day Fix Extreme is a great option. It is extreme, so be ready for workouts that you might not be able to finish. Thankfully, Autumn Calabrese is encouraging and relatable. She pushes you to do your best without sounding corny or condescending. Again, it’s nice to the see the participants falter a little too, makes me feel less pathetic.
If you can’t tell, the dieting is my favorite part of the program. It’s a lifestyle change rather than a fad or a cleanse. It’s a way of re-teaching your brain and your shopping list what’s healthy and what’s not. The recipe suggestions in the book are good, plus you have the freedom to make whatever you want, provided you fit the ingredients into the categories and don’t go over the limits. I especially like the peanut butter oatmeal topped with strawberries, yum!
If you choose the 21 Day Fix Extreme, stick to it, it’s rough but it’s worth it. Good luck!

Training our brain to eat healthy is a major step, for everyone. Sometimes it can be difficult, especially in today’s fast pace world and when we are on the run so often. Grabbing something or anything quick just to get full seems to work. Proud of you for your accomplishments and working at this

I always feel better when I stick to my healthy diet, and eat fruits and vegetables and lean meats. I am glad that you did so good on your 21 day fix extreme!

Congrats on completing the extreme fix. My husband and i started with the original for 5 weeks and then went to extreme for 3. Loved them and the fact that the meal plan was easy to follow. We got hooked after extreme and so have started a new program now and started coaching, love that they are only 30 mi .
