Stearns Puddle Jumper Life Jackets
I recently wrote a post about taking baby to the beach in which I mentioned Stearns Puddle Jumper Life Jackets. They are amazing! Life jackets are SO important around water because drowning can happen silently in an instant. We discovered the Puddle Jumper life jacket after a going swimming with a friend. Her boy had one and it looked so comfortable and WAY easier to swim in than a regular life jacket. Micah was using a floaty, which he was doing awesome with, until one of the times I turned to baby for a second and then turned back to see him out of his floaty splashing ineffectively. He was fine, but my heart and brain knew he needed something safer and harder to remove than a floaty. So we got a Puddle Jumper the next day and Micah loves it!
Puddle Jumper life jackets are for kids 30-50 pounds. It doesn’t fit Emersyn yet, her not-quite-1-year-old body and arms are too small to be safe or comfortable. Micah is right about the 30 pound mark and the life jacket fits snuggly at it’s tightest, it’s perfect and has lots of growing room because of the ability to tighten the strap at the back. Also of note, there is only ONE clip to put it on, and that clip is on the back, so little man can’t undo it when I’m not looking.
The best thing about Stearns Puddle Jumpers: they are Coast Guard approved!!! They are also WAY more comfortable for a swimming child than a regular life jacket. they don’t come up around their necks and chins and cause them to float awkwardly. Instead they are snuggly around the mid-chest and upper arms like arm floaties to keep you precious kiddo safely afloat, in a swimming-friendly position, and able to move freely. I ABSOLUTELY recommend you get one!
Plus the Puddle Jumper life jackets come with fun colors, pictures and animals! Find one online or just go straight to your local store like Walmart or Target and grab one for each kid, cheaper than a traditional life jacket!

Stearns sent me two Puddle Jumpers to review for this post. I adore them and know they could save my children’s lives every time we go to the beach or pool. Opinions are 100% my own and not influenced by compensation.

Teach kids boundaries and not to go in any water without an adult. Early swim classes are important and having water safety devices on near water at all times.

I would have to say, just dont take your eyes off them. We own a pool, and I always watch very closely what the kids are doing. My little nieces and nephews like to go off the diving board when they are over, and we implemented a thing where they have to give us a thumbs up after they jump in…so we know they are okay…and we always have an adult in the deep end watching.

My grandson just completed his summer swim lessons. He is 7 and he has taken lessons for the last 3 years just to keep him refreshed.
