I’m a big fan of babywearing! Not only because it’s good for baby and bonding, but also because it keeps my hands free while carrying baby at the same time! Plus, it’s way easier to haul a baby carrier around than a stroller! Check out my previous post about the benefits of proper babywearing! Boba sent me a Boba 4G baby carrier (cute tweet pattern) to review for you all; opinions are 100% my own and not influenced by compensation. My opinion of the Boba baby carrier: it’s awesome!
Boba 4G Carrier: Handy for Mom!
Micah was fussy ALL THE TIME. Unless I was holding him, then he was ok and would sleep. So, slings and carriers became my friend because moms need their hands! Now, with a toddler running around, I need my hands even more. So, the Boba carrier is awesome! Most of the other carriers I’ve used left my back sore and were hard to get on and off because I couldn’t reach the clasps. The Boba carrier is not only back-friendly, but the top clasp can move up or down to be in a position of comfort AND reachable! The wide hip band make a more pleasant, solid base for even heavier riders, and the padded shoulder straps are actually comfortable!
Boba 4G Carrier: Comfort with a Toddler
When I got the Boba sling, I tested it’s comfort-abilities by putting Micah in it… and it was fantastic! His 27 pound body was light and totally manageable both front- and back-carry ways! Plus, Micah enjoyed it and didn’t want to get out! I wish I would have had the Boba carrier pre-Emersyn when we went hiking with Micah!
It was a little hard to get Micah in to the back-carry position, but he was feeling cooperative and helped me by walking around my back and even handed me the shoulder strap to trap him in! Then he loved being in it, so he’s sure to help me again and again!
Boba 4G Carrier: Ease with a Newborn
The Boba carrier lists the minimum weight at 7 pounds, and Emersyn was exactly that the first time we put her in it. With the folded newborn insert, she fit perfectly and almost immediately fell asleep. I tightened all the straps all the way and felt comfortable and secure. Her head seemed a little wobbly, which the sun shade can help support (they thought of everything!).
For a newborn, though, I think I would prefer the Boba wrap or a sling until she’s a little bigger, ONLY because they would support her head better. Once she has good head control, the Boba 4G carrier will be perfect until she maxes out the weight recommendation (45 pounds).
Boba Carrier Extras
Sun shade – strap over baby’s head to protect her from the sun. Or strap over the opposite shoulder for added head support. Totally adjustable or removable, whatever you need!
Pockets – not huge, but big enough to hold pacifier, phone, money, or whatever else you need for your travels.
Foot straps – keep a toddler’s knees at a 90 degree angle for increased comfort and good hip alignment. Put them on BEFORE putting on the sling though, or it’s too hard to find the rings to loop them through.
Adjustability – all the straps are adjustable so it can fit me or Peter, which means hiking is still possible with two little kids! Yay!
Newborn insert – a removable, foldable insert to support a newborn or small baby. It makes the Boba carrier more versatile for more weights and sizes!
Overall, the Boba carrier is the most comfortable and versatile baby carrier I’ve used so far and is an awesome option for babies 7 pounds to 45 pounds! It even comes with a thorough instruction manual and little pamphlets about the benefits of baby wearing.

I love babywearing but I have never tried a Boba!

I really like that babywearing is useful for babysitters too because it distributes the baby’s weight more evenly than carrying them on your hip AND it seems to work great to “rock” the baby to sleep.

Loving the k’tan. I tried the bjorn but my babe was too wiggly to get into it with ease. The k’tan keeps him so snuggly! Always looking for new options.

Baby wearing is a life saver! It gives me 2 free hands to get things done while still remaining in contact with my baby. I currently have a knit wrap but he’s starting to get too heavy for it.

I tried with my first son when he was a tiny infant. He didn’t so much like it. Then when babysitting a friend’s son, I tried again. It makes all the difference in the world once the baby can hold their head up! She has a Ralph Lauren and I was just using my Moby. With our second baby on the way, I’d love to try again using a carrier with an infant design. Or just wait until the new one is a bit older. Either way, I’m excited to baby wear!!

I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Many thanks

I’m impressed, I need to say. Actually not often do I encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very pleased that I stumbled throughout this in my search for one thing relating to this.
