Among many other things, books are an irreplaceable part of our bedtime routine! They give the kids a chance to settle down in transition between play and bedtime. Plus all the educational and bonding benefits of reading! So good books that grab their attention are vital. If the book is boring, it’s difficult to stop them from playing so they’ll sit with me. Our most recent favorite books are from Silver Dolphin and we love them!
Silver Dolphin Books has a small collection of touchy-feely board books called Bright Books. These 3 books not only have soft, fuzzy, or glittery main characters, they have bright and bold colors that grab our eyes and attention easily. Plus simple story lines that are easy for me to read and easy for the kids to follow.
These books immediately grabbed my kids’ attention. They wanted to read them every time I gave them a choice for the whole next week. They love the bright colors and simple stories. They also love the soft bear and cat that they can touch and they follow through the adventures. I love that the stories are short enough for bedtime but long enough to let them settle down.
Baby Bear’s Busy Day is a super quick synopsis of a little bear and parent’s day. From wake up to going to bed. Bubble’s Ocean Friends follows a sparkly little fish through the ocean while including numbers 1-5. Shadow’s Nighttime Adventure is my kids’ favorite: exploring the night with a little black cat. They’re favorite part is when the cat hides from the rain in a garbage can.
