When you’re expecting a new bundle of joy – Especially your first: one of the most important things to get right is the nursery! Creating the Dream Nursery can put mom and baby at ease, and can be totally therapeutic!
I’ve had the awesome opportunity to create TWO dream nurseries for my babies. One before Andrew was born: And the other – three months after Ethan was born – when we moved into our new home!
Funny story about these rooms: I’ve *loathed* blue for most of my life. Really. I grew up in a house where EVERYTHING (yes, everything.) was blue. My mom was obsessed.
Either way, it took MUCH convincing from a friend – and almost 8 years of not living with blue – before I could put blue into my house again. Serious.
But – Now I don’t mind it… In {extreme} moderation.
Choosing Colors for Your Nursery:
It’s SO hard to choose colors for your little ones. But I’ve got to say that it is really good to step out of your boundaries a little bit, to create a beautiful – but impressive room. This is where My Colortopia comes in!
Discover the nursery color that you and your baby will love with the Baby Room Colors from Glidden® Paint, as seen in What to Expect When You’re Expecting (only in theaters). They’ve come up with a great ‘match-making’ sort of tool to help you out:
You can fill out your answers to the five simple questions below, and see what colors your room should be!
Surprisingly, after filling out the form – I got similar colors to what my boys’ rooms actually are!
It’s really fun to see all the different color schemes, and almost makes me want to do some more decorating!! I’d love to incorporate another color into each of my boys’ rooms to make them really stand out.

Wow! Ethan is a lucky Boy! I LOVE the room! My mom too was obsessed with blue, she had blue carpet, curtains, you name it. But, I do love the color blue so…I can relate to how you felt. It looks awesome!

Very neat, I don’t have to worry about putting together a nursery, but I have to say this is great for someone like me that can’t decorate.

I love the variation of stripe width on Ethan’s walls! I never had much for nurseries for any of my kids. Didn’t have the funding for much when I was a new mom, and then after having a large family and kids sharing rooms, I could never do much. One thing I noticed was the rocking chairs in the rooms. THAT in my opinion, is the single most important thing besides having a bed for baby. I do love blue but overused it in past years. So no more blue here for a while!
