While it’s great that my kiddos are already in school and I’m feeling a little bit of the relief of them being away from me and enjoying the time I have to ‘get-er-done’.. I have also come to realize how much craziness I have in my life, and how 8-3 is NOT enough time for me to catch up!
This was my day yesterday:
Breakfast, get everyone ready and out of the house and the general rush of the morning *WHEW* They’re off. But it’s just the beginning! Start a load of laundry, text message: hubs forgot snacks to share at work and needs it brought to him ASAP. Grab a granola bar, some mascara – a bra, and run out the door. Grocery store, coffee shop, (now the car is acting possessed..again.) hubbys work *kiss kiss*, gas light is on – call mechanics while filling up. Grocery store – again – desperately searching for nut-free snacks that will satisfy the cravings of my peanut-butter-loving child, then to Office Depot® OfficeMax® to search for a zipper folder for the oldest since it’s the latest rage in his classroom… Drive-through lunch, important phone call, home. Eat said lunch, answer emails, call mom, *Shoot! The groceries are in the car!*, load of dishes, prep dinner ingredients, sweep floor of Cheerios from breakfast, and holy crap it’s 3:00! Run to the car and fight the rush-hour traffic to pick up the kids on time. Cook dinner, homework help, hubbys home *YAY!* Eat, clean up dinner, scrub muddy shoes, bath time, story time, BED time! *Crash*
In short: I ran around like a crazy woman, failed to get everything done that I wanted – which made me super stressed out – and then my youngest claimed that my tomato soup is not as good as the soup from the can. I may have wigged-out a little and swore I was never cooking a good home-cooked meal again…
Point is: Often times we as parents feel super under-appreciated! We’re bending over backwards and inside-out for our families and they still complain. We think we’re not good enough, we certainly don’t compare to Mrs. perfection across the street (or down the block or at church or your best friend).. but the kids. The kids do see.. eventually (I hope). Seeing this video from Office Depot® OfficeMax® gave me a little reassurance that I might just someday be my kids’ hero.
Just watch this: Seriously! We are gearing up our kids for greatness!
While writing this post, I remembered that I have a load of laundry in the washer still… today my chores will start with re-washing said laundry.
Win It!!!
