Have you picked a pumpkin yet? Gotten any fun fall photos? If you live in the Texas/New Mexico area, Fiddlesticks Farms is the place to go! This incredible family adventure is not only a pumpkin patch and corn maze, it has dozens of family-friendly activities and even more photo-friendly locations.
We had the opportunity to visit Fiddlesticks Farms yesterday and it was SO MUCH FUN! From the map online, I knew it would be packed with activities. Fiddlesticks lived up to my expectations and much more. It has the typical pumpkin piles, or take a hay ride out to pick your own pumpkin. The pumpkin prices are good, as low as 0.50 to a few dollars if you get them from the patch! Beyond that, you could spend the whole day exploring the maze and other activities here! Food is not hard to find either, or bring in your own.
Our favorite activities were definitely the Potato sac slide, Cow train, and Jumping Pillows.
The Potato sac slide has three metal slides side-by-side, similar to but shorter than what you would see at the fair. Fast and fun! The Cow train is a long train of barrels-on-wheels painted to look like cows and pulled behind a tractor. A little rough for adults, so much fun for kids! And the Jumping Pillows are literally giant rectangular bumps of air for jumping on, one for bigger kids and one for littler ones.
We also loved checking out the cattle trailer, feeding goats, climbing on hay bales, and rolling in giant RolyPoly tubes. Plus trying to rope a plastic cow, visiting the pigs, celebrating a birthday party, going down tube slides, and climbing on the spider web.
We even snagged some candy when the Candy Cannon shot it in to the air!
And there is even more! Plus there are lots of activities for bigger kids and adults, like tetherball, firepits, Tug O War, Apple Blasters, and Giant Jenga. Stay late to see the stars and watch fireworks!
Then there’s the maze. It’s huge! And a tribute to Curious George (who can also be seen walking around with the Man in the Yellow Hat).
There are three different maze options: the bottom part takes 5-10 minutes, the middle 15-25 minutes, and the top 45+ minutes. Bring a map in with you so you have some idea of where you might be if you get lost. We tried the middle section, got lost somewhere around the letter A in 10 YEARS, and ended up going back out the entry due to fussy, tired kids. (Do the maze first not last like us, oops).
I shouldn’t forget the photo ops. Everywhere you look there are cute places to take pictures. My kiddos hate pictures and run the other way, but we did manage to get some cute ones! There are hay bales, signs, face-hole pictures, apples and corn, and pumpkins. A giant rocking chair and a big porch swing. Bring your camera and see if you can get your kiddos to sit still long enough for a picture!
Overall, Fiddlesticks Farms is a fantastic family adventure and was well worth our 2 hour drive to get there! We loved it, my only regret is that we don’t live closer to go back again and again! It costs $16.50 a person, 3 and under is free. Or get a season pass for $25 and it’ll be paid for within 2 visits! Don’t miss this fun fall opportunity!
