Groceries Delivered to My Door! @HyVee #Giveaway

Everyone needs groceries. Gotta eat to live! Hy-Vee is our prime choice for groceries for many reasons, but particularly for their family-friendly efforts around every corner. The Hy-Vee employees and overall experience goes above and beyond to make shopping easier. The newest thing that excites me about Hy-Vee: online ordering! Hy-Vee aisles online provides that large Hy-Vee selection and great Hy-Vee attitude with front-door delivery! 

As a busy mom, shopping isn’t on my list of fun-things-to-do. Finding time between work and house, loading both kids (sometimes kicking and screaming) into the car, and then listening to the 18-month-old whine while I go in and out to unload. While shopping? Dealing with the 3-year-old wanting something new in every aisle and the 18-month-old dropping snacks at every turn. Some days, when my patience is great and the kids are having good days, shopping can be fun. Most days, I just wish someone would do it for me so I could just play with my kids, or do the dishes, or fold the laundry. Or write a blog post! With Hy-Vee Aisles Online, someone does exactly that!

Hy-Vee Aisles Online: Process

First step is to create a profile and choose my store. Then I simply create a grocery list online. Everything is there; every brand and product, every price, complete with pictures. So I can select exactly what I want every time. I can also save lists for things I’ll buy again and again. When I’m happy with my cart, I order it. Put in my credit card info and select an hour-long chunk of time that I’ll be home to accept delivery, or the time that I’ll swing by for pick-up. 
The ads and sale prices show up online, so you can still shop sales. Unfortunately, some sales, like “3 of any for $5” type sales, don’t show well in the cart or during the ordering process. For those, believe what you see in the ad picture and know the cashier will ring it up correctly during checkout.

Hy-Vee Aisles Online: Costs

You pay the same price as you would in the store. If the product goes on sale between selecting it and your personal shopper buying it, you get the sale price. Delivery costs $4.95, store pick-up is $2.95. Both are free if you spend over $100. Then you can tip your delivery person if you want. I asked my delivery guy what he typically gets and he said anywhere from $0-$10. He even happily hauled them directly to my kitchen and was incredibly pleasant! That’s it. No hidden costs or fees. The end. Groceries at your house and you didn’t have to walk through the aisles!

Hy-Vee Aisles Online: My Review

I ordered a few challenging things, like eggs and bananas, even jicama, and they came out fine! The only things that are a bit challenging to order are produce: it’s hard to know whether you are ordering by weight or count. If you are like me, you don’t think about how many or what weight, you grab the bunch/amount that look good and keep moving, so it can be challenging to pick the right amount without being able to physically pick it.

At the ordering stage you double check your selections then put in your credit card info. A gift card payment option will be coming soon. Then you can select if you are ok with substitutions: if the thing you ordered isn’t there, is it ok to substitute the closest item or just skip that item? They guarantee you will not pay more than your original selection. I had 3 substitutions based on quantity/brand and was satisfied with them all. About an hour after I placed my order, I got an email that everything was selected, the final price ($15 less than the original!) and a link to view any substitutions. 
The groceries were delivered just minutes after 7pm (I picked 7-8pm as my slot) to my front door with a smile. I signed for them and put them away. Easy peesy. The frozen stuff was frozen, cold was cold, and everything was in good shape. My only problem was that the MANY bags were tied shut, surely so nothing would fall out en-route, so I had to untie to unpack. 
I got to spend an extra hour interacting with my kids and keeping my house running smoothly instead of working in a shopping trip around naps, work and scheduled things. I got to spend extra time playing with my kids instead of practicing my parenting techniques in public! I will definitely be using this service again (and again and again)!

    I actually used Hy-Vee delivery for a few months when I was having medical issues a couple years ago. Back then, delivery was $20, plus tip for the driver. I might look into this again, now that the delivery charge has come down so much. It was definitely a convenient way to shop!

    I would use the extra time to to make a delicious meal for my family! When I go to Hyvee, it is a big shopping day & we usually eat something simple, like sandwiches/soup, so it would be great to makel a nice meal with the time saved!

    For me definitely! My friend uses the hyvee delivery thing, she swears by it with having the little ones she says it takes things much easier.

    My husband and I would both use the monitor. My husband, especially, would love the convenience of shopping online. He can’t walk the stores anymore. I do, but, as I am still working, my time is limited.
