I’ve reviewed quite a few video monitors, some way more expensive than others, and having a video monitor definitely beats an audio monitor as baby becomes mobile. I love being able to spy on Micah after I put him to bed, it’s fun to watch him read to himself or play with his stuffed animals. And it’s the only reason I knew he was using wipes to “clean” the floor a few nights in a row (before I removed the wipes from his room). The Gynoii video baby monitor is a fantastic video monitor, especially for my soon-to-be-mobile baby girl! The Gynoii video baby monitor is under $100 with two perks I haven’t worked with before: a connection to social sharing right in the app, and the ability to make a time-lapse video!
Gynoii video baby monitor: The Good
The Gynoii video baby monitor is awesome. Period. The set up is quick and easy, with a password for security. The app can be downloaded to multiple phones or tablets.
Gynoii Monitor Connection Speed: Great
The best part: the Gynoii video baby monitor loads up quickly. I mean quickly! I was impressed. It loads up within seconds on my home WiFi. It takes slightly longer over 4G, and even longer on the hospital WiFi (a slow connection), but it still loads up faster than any other video monitor I’ve used. Sometimes it skips or drops the connection, but it reloads easily and quickly.
Gynoii Monitor Picture: Great
The Gynoii video baby monitor picture is crisp and clear, the colors are right on! It takes a lot of light to get it in color day mode (light on and curtain open to a sunny day), but night mode is also very clear. Night vision is not in color, but my mind already knows what color my baby is, I just need to know what she’s doing! Even better, the Gynoii video monitor has pinch-zoom so I can really easily zoom in and move around, it works smoothly and is awesome!
Gynoii Monitor Options: Everything necessary and more!
Like most video monitors, you can hear and see baby, mute baby, talk back to baby through the monitor, play lullabies or your own music, or take pictures and video. Plus you can view the videos and snapshots right in the gallery in the app or find them saved to a folder in your phone. A cool feature: you can record a chunk of time which then compresses itself into a quick time-lapse video or baby in action! This is fun to watch baby moving in the crib or Micah playing in his room. And I don’t have to keep the app open for it to record, I can do other things while it records, go to the app to stop it, then do other things while it compresses to a time-lapse video until it alerts me that it’s complete.
The Gynoii video baby monitor also has sound and movement notifications, which are fairly standard in video monitors, with one cool perk: when they are turned on, I get push notifications on my phone even if the app is totally closed. As in, not even in my task bar. I don’t make use of the notifications with other monitors because the app has to be running, at least in the background, to get the notification, which wears the battery down. So this ability to have the app totally closed and still get notifications renders my audio-only monitor useless. And this doesn’t seem to have much effect on my battery life! Maybe 1-2%, but nothing real noticeable. I can also set the sensitivity so it can be sensitive enough to hear Micah in the next room or less sensitive to just hear baby.
I can also put it in audio-only mode to be able to hear baby through my phone without the picture up, just like an audio monitor.
Here’s the big new feature: you can take your images, videos and time-lapse recordings and share them! There are tons of options including Facebook, email, Pinterest, messaging, messenger, Skype, Twitter and more! It’s awesomely easy!
Oh! Another perk: it comes with a typical mounting stand, or you can switch it out for the included padded (and strong) clip! Which mean I can securely clip it to the shelf above E’s crib and not worry about screwing or falling.
Gynoii video baby monitor: The Bad
The Gynoii video baby monitor can’t be remotely moved, so to change the space it is looking at you have to physically go in the room and move it. Not a big deal for watching baby in her crib, I can easily see the whole crib. I can also see enough of Micah’s room to keep track of him. It doesn’t work as well for a big living room or playroom space because you won’t be able to see the whole room.
The big, drawing feature is the ability to share over social networks, and at this time that option only works on Android phones. So if you have an iPhone, you won’t be able to use that feature unless that upgrade to include that in the future. iPhone users can still take pictures, find the picture on the phone, then share like a normal picture and the company is working on adding the instant share feature to iPhone in the future.
As far as the instructions: there is just a two-sided piece of paper for an instruction guide and the grammar isn’t quite right. The instructions are totally understandable and you really don’t need anything more than what’s provided, it’s super easy to setup and operate.
Oh, and the grammar isn’t perfect. Totally understandable, but don’t be surprised that a few of the tenses are wrong and a few insignificant little words are missing. Don’t let it sway you though, the monitor is awesome!
Overall, I love the Gynoii video baby monitor and would definitely recommend it. It loads faster than any other video monitor I’ve used, I love the push notification option, and the picture is clear. Check it out online for yourself or…

It is reassuring to watch baby on the monitor while they are sleeping. If they call out, you can see if they are really awake without disturbing them by going into their room. Often, they will still be sleeping.

My daughter was 18 a few years back and became pregnant. It was of course not what we had envisioned for her. She felt very self conscious and scared, having to suffer through the stares and whisperings at the end of her senior year at school. The situation was not the best, but she foraged on…keeping her job, taking care of herself, and just having faith. There were some complications. We knew having a new baby in our house was gonna change things. Well, she handled it all like a trooper. When we were home the first night it was in the wee hours of the night. I was on Grandma duty and went in the bedroom to see my daughter feeding her little girl, lovingly looking at her and just amazed by this creation. I asked her “was it all worth it”. She just smiled and said. Every bit, forever. It was then that I knew she would be OK, be a great mom, and all the worry was in vain. I had faith in God, but my worry made me question my faith in my daughter. I knew then that then, BOTH of us grew as mothers.
