There’s not long to go until this dreadful year is over and pretty much everyone can agree that 2020 can do one! However, it’s not over yet so rather than simply counting down the days until next year and wallowing in the misery that is the global pandemic, why not go out on a high and make the most of what is left of this year and turn it into a positive. Think about it; you have survived a global pandemic; this is something to be celebrated! There are a few other ways you can get the rest of the year back on track, so why not give it a go?
Celebrate
As mentioned, there is a lot to celebrate this year – you survived a global pandemic. Of course, it all depends on your circumstances and what you have been through, but whether it’s celebrating someone’s life, celebrating someone recovering from COVID, celebrating two people who weren’t able to get married this year or those who couldn’t celebrate a big birthday. Of course, you can’t have a big party with lots of people, but that doesn’t mean it’s all doom and gloom. You can still have a party and celebrate with the people you do live with and treat yourself to some nice food. Pretend it’s summer and get one of the BBQ Restaurants to cater for you, pop some summer clothes on and drink some summer cocktails before the year ends. Then get other friends and family to do the same and get them all on Zoom for some games.
Achieve
It’s not too late to achieve something this year. Have a look back at the resolutions you set at the start of the year, and while there is a decent excuse for why you haven’t managed to accomplish them, there are probably some you can do or at least start. It’s not too late to lose some weight this year, it’s not too late to start running, it’s not too late to start writing a book, and it’s not too late to start an online course and to learn something new.
Try something new
Trying something new can push you out of your comfort zone, it can make you feel really good about yourself, and it can bring new energy into your life. Write down a couple of things that you have always wanted to try but either not had the chance to or not had the nerve to. Well now is the time to tick one off the list. Time isn’t slowing down, so get it in before the year ends!
Take time for yourself.
Self-care is one of the most important things you can do for yourself, but also one of the hardest to practice. It is okay to take a break and do something that makes you happy. This year has been so stressful, and it is important to take time for yourself and to make sure you’re okay. Be kind to yourself.
