Oh my gosh, where are my manners??
Apparently they were kicked out of my brain while I was in New York over the last weekend. Ok, not really, but – hahah!
New York??
Yeah! I went to New York from last Wednesday to Sunday for BlogHer 12! It was sort-of last minute (or last-month?) that I was going as part of the Best Buy Blogging Board – which I’ll be telling you all about, soon! (Pretty much, We’re going to be talking a lot about Best Buy around here – which is totally cool, because I <3 Best Buy!)
It was my second time for BlogHer, first time for New York. And I tell you what…. Minnesota Nice, does NOT belong on the streets of NYC.
I’m one of those people who often apologizes, or even OVER apologizes. I might even just brush your elbow as I’m walking by you, and I turn and say something like ‘oh my gosh, I’m so sorry’, or ‘I’m such a clutz – so sorry!’.
So when walking down the streets in NYC – when the walking traffic is going opposite your direction at full force – you simply get people rolling their eyes or making weird faces at you when you apologize. Or they simply move on without saying a word.
Someone mentioned to me, ‘to walk like you fit in – simply look straight forward, and walk. Don’t let ANYTHING, or ANYONE get in your way. It’s almost like playing chicken when you’re walking.’ And that pretty much made total sense to me.
Honestly though, I had a great time In NYC – and really enjoyed the experience that I got while there. I managed to take as many cabs as I possibly could – and even figured out the subway two or three times.
The cab experience could literally become a book. JustSayin.
BlogHer was great, too! I’m not sure it was quite as awesome or informative as last year – but I’m still happy with the connections that I made, and the friendships that I started and continued from other meetings!
It was crazy humid while I was there, which I am normally used to, but MN had been so nice for the few weeks before the trip, that I got un-used to the humidity.
I came home Sunday (Without many hiccups in my airline, which was LUCKY considering that we were one of the last flights to leave Newark on Sunday due to weather) Hugged my babes, and spent the evening showing them the fun stuff that I brought home for them and making a GIGANTIC mess all over my living room floor.
Monday morning, I had to get right back to it. Cleaning, cooking… (oh wait, maybe I haven’t cooked since I got back?) and trying desperately to catch up on sleep. Not to mention the busy week of my (30th EEK!!) Birthday, and our 10 year anniversary!
So, I apologize for the lack of posts here – but they’ll be up to normal speed, soon! (Oh yeah, and more about NYC and BlogHer!)

So glad you had a good time. Don’t ever change who you are. You are very special and I heard that about people in the big apple. They don’t trust anyone and are afraid to smile back. Too bad! Can’t wait to hear about what you learned.
