Kiinde Starter Kit
Breastfeeding means pumping. For a full-time working mom, it means a lot of pumping. For a SAHM, it means pumping for a date night or other prolonged time away. Kiinde Twist is a whole system to pump, store, and feed your breastmilk. No more pumping, then transferring to bags then pouring into bottles! Kiinde’s goal is to make mom’s life easier but cutting out the “middle man” so to say. With Kiinde twist bags, I can pump, store, organize, warm and feed Emersyn all from one bag. And the starter kit includes all the adapters I need to fit most varieties of pumps!
Kiinde Twist Kit Basics
Use an adapter to hook the twist bag to your pump, handheld or machine. Pump like normal, with measurements on the bag to guide you. Put the lid back on and either feed within a few hours, store in the fridge for use within 6 days or in pop the freezer for longer. The kit even includes a storage shelving unit sized just right for the bags to help organize them. When you are ready to feed baby, thaw a bag (we like to let a bag sit in HOT water for a few minutes to thaw, then shake and test until it’s the right temperature), and slide it into place in a plastic “bottle” skeleton. Pop the right nipple on top and serve! Empty bags are then recyclable, yay!
Kiinde Twist Starter Kit Review: The Good
The starter kit comes with everything needed: 20 bags, 2 bottle skeletons, a storage shelf, 3 different size nipples with cases, two bottle brushes, and 4 pairs of adapters.
The bags measurement is a little low, but really close to accurate. 5 ounces my Medela bottle landed just over 5 ounces in a fully opened bag. Also nice, the bags fully opened can sit up on their own.
Bag feeding means squeezing all the air out before popping the nipple on, which means there is less air for baby to swallow (just what she breathes in) so she should be less gassy! Always a plus.
It works! Easily! With my Dr. Brown’s hand pump or my Medela machine pump, I can easily screw on the bags, pump, write on the bags, and store away. Then it’s easy to slide them into the bottle and pop the nipple on (speaking of nipples, it comes with low, medium and fast flow!).
Bonus! It can be used as food pouches when baby transitions to eating!
Kiinde Twist Starter Kit Review: The Bad
The bags are crinkly, which made me worry they would get brittle if frozen for a long period. So, I froze a few with water to test them out. I tortured one after frozen; I squished it, dropped it on the ground a few times, and tried to bend it. Way more than anyone would ever do to precious breast milk. I dropped another once, and a third I just froze. The tortured one sprung a leak, a big leak, in the bottom. The other two thawed just fine after a few days frozen. I haven’t had the kit long enough to see how frozen for a few months, I’ll let you know in a few more months.
Otherwise, there really is no bad. It’s a great idea and a great system. Check it out more for yourself online and on Facebook! Enjoy your breastfeeding journey!

These would be great! I work two nights a week so I pump when I get home and then clean everything up takes another half hour or so. These would be great to pump, store, and have little to wash.

This set looks wonderful! I don’t have a dishwasher, and got SO tired of scrubbing out bottles with kid #1. I think kid #2 (on the way) needs this set!

I am in my 4th year of residency in a busy hospital. I am currently pumping at work, and I would love to use the time spent on washing bottles towards spending time with my new baby. The Kiinde system seems perfect for giving me more time with my beautiful son.

This looks awesome! I will have to go back to work soon, so my baby will have to get pumped milk during the day. This looks so much easier than washing dozens of bottles a week!
