My magic diaper pail is the Bubula Steel diaper pail. I (or my toddler) put the diaper in, close the lid and POOF! it’s gone. The secret? I push the button at the back that opens the trap door and drops the diaper into the tall, normal-people-bag-holding can. But Micah thinks it’s magic, and my nose thinks it’s amazing.

Bubula (actually yiddish for little baby!) is coming out with new products this year, the first being their Steel Diaper pail. It’s 25 inches tall, which means I don’t have to bend much to throw out poopy balls of stink but my toddler can easily reach it to be my big helper and put in diapers. The diaper-deposit lid is easy to open and close by simply pushing down and it pops up, then push it back closed. And the area inside the diaper-deposit is big enough to hold a very full load and then some.
The button on the back is a little more difficult to push, but still easy enough, to open the trap door and drop whatever trash is the cubby down into whatever bag you have decided to put in there. That’s right! No special bags! The Bubula Steel Diaper Pail has a little contraption inside the holds the bag in and the easily hinges out of the way to take a full bag out. It can hold normal large trash bags or even basic grocery bags. 2 points to Bubula for being mom- and budget-friendly!
The only thing I could see being improved is that I wish there was a foot pedal to open the trap door and drop the stinky grossness into the abyss. Sometimes, like when there is a baby on my hip, it’s easier to step on a pedal than to bend a bit to push a button. But, since I’ve just emptied my hand of the stinkiness I’m wishing to do away with, that hand is free to push the button, so it’s not a big deal.
No Stinky Diapers!
Since we use cloth diapers now, I use the Bubula diaper pail for stinky wipes and the occasional disposable diaper, plus food waste that attract the fruit flies like crazy (like banana peels!). I haven’t changed the bag in over a week, and I don’t notice any smell at all. I pretty much forget there is even a garbage pail in my living room until I remember I don’t have to walk the stinky stuff to the kitchen garbage! Yes, I said living room. It’s where we spend all our time, so it’s where diapers get changed and potty-training poop-accidents get cleaned up. As well as where mangoes and bananas are enjoyed. And since the smell is gone, and the mint green is pretty, it’s a perfectly acceptable addition next the my couch-slash-blogging-office.
