My mom, grandma and sister all came to visit in mid-December for Micah’s birthday and to see us all! So, we threw a party! Mainly to celebrate Micah’s 2nd birthday, he’s growing so fast! Also to celebrate Peter’s birthday and my sister’s because they both had birthdays within the week. We kept it simple, but had a lot of fun during their whole visit and for the party!
My Boy’s Second Birthday!
Micah’s second birthday was way more fun than his first, mainly because he figured out how to say “presents” and “birthday” and had a ton of fun opening his gifts. And eating all the frosting off his cake!
Presents for a Toddler Boy
Micah loves everything car, ball and train related, so of course he got cars, balls, and trains. Nana Nubs sent him an awesome hot wheels track, which he loves to watch but we had to put together and run it, it’ll be more fun when he’s older and can do it himself. He adores his wooden train tracks and magnetic train though, and has figured out how to put it together, though not always in the shape he intends. He’s also good at putting his duplos legos together; a little bigger than regular legos so he can handle them.
The most exciting gift of the night: a Radio Flyer Flyer 500. This little car ramp rollercoaster is so much fun! With a little coaching, he quickly learned how to push to little car up the hill, climb on it, and push off to roll down. Then he rolls a good 20 feet! He also quickly learned how to hold his feet up so he wouldn’t scrape his toes. And gets off to do it again! He loves it and it’s a great addition to his outside toys.
Cake for my Boy’s Birthday
A good friend made the cakes for us: one had a motorcycle and the other was cupcakes with a road in the shape of a 2 on them. Such fun cakes! Peter got the motorcycle and Micah quickly laid claim to the cupcakes. All of them. We had to ask his permission before taking one to give to someone else or he would yell at us. During the party and for days after he would ask for cake, lick off all the frosting, and move to the next one. He definitely has a sweet tooth!
Otherwise we kept the decorations simple with streamers and balloons everywhere. We quickly discovered that Emersyn loves the helium balloons from the dollar store and will stare and giggle at them. We mostly invited adults from the church because we don’t know many kids Micah’s age, so we all chatted and helped him play with his toys. It was a fun day!
