I just love when companies step-up to the plate and support great causes. Most recently I learned about Walmart and Pampers joining together to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. They are teaming up to donate $200,000 this month! I am so thankful every day that goes by that my children do not require hospitalization – but not everyone is as fortunate. Every day, Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals treat 16,000 children in emergency rooms – and even one in TEN children in North America is treated by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals each year. That’s just incredible.
Supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provided $3.4 Billion in charity care in 2012 – Helping those less fortunate or those whose insurance is not covering certain treatments. It’s a fantastic thing to support. Visit Walmart.com/CMNH for more details and to make your own donation.
Pampers and Walmart have shared with me the story of a young boy from my local area in Minnesota. His name is Michael and he is 9 1/2 years old. Michael is a favorite among his peers, and has been deemed “delightfully mischievous”. He was born with Apert syndrome, a rare genetic disorder causing birth defects involving the head and limbs. At just 5 months old, Michael underwent surgery to expand and reshape his skull to make room for his growing brain. Thirteen more surgeries followed, including procedures to adjust his jaw and separate his fused fingers and toes. Michael now has a bright future. Recently, he joined the Boy Scouts and is excited to be a Cub Scout. CMN Hospital funds enabled Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare to offer private inpatient rooms, allowing Michael to have greater privacy and better rest as he recovered from surgery.
So by supporting Walmart and Pampers, you’re also supporting the $200,000 donation by P&G to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
