With school budgets being cut, it often falls to the PTA to raise funds needed to buy extra equipment and to raise additional money for items that enrich the lives of the children attending the school. From subsidizing school trips to replacing worn-out gym equipment, there is always so much that is needed by schools to provide the best possible experience for their pupils. While raising money for your child’s school is undoubtedly a worthwhile task, it can also be a tough one too. Thinking of new fundraising ideas is tricky, and sometimes it can be hard to create enough buzz to get other parents and stakeholders engaged in the fundraising process. To get the very best results from your fundraising efforts, you need an idea that is engaging enough to get lots of people on board. Here is a little inspiration to get you started on thinking of new fundraising ideas for your child’s school:
Seasonal Food Stalls
While bake sales are a fantastic idea, they are something that people can get bored with quickly, especially if you are running one each week.
To maintain interest in food sales, it can be useful to run them according to the season. By sticking with seasonally appropriate items, you will generate a lot more interest and have a higher demand for the products that you are selling. Why not sell ice creams after school as summer approaches or warm cookie dough in the winter? After all, who can resist an ice cream on a scorching hot summer’s day?
Don’t forget to follow the appropriate guidelines relating to allergies when selling your food stall items.
Merchandise
Who doesn’t love a bit of merchandise? Sign up with End Zone Athletic and your school could receive all sorts of excellent spirit items for free! Businesses pay to have their logo applied to your school’s branded bottles, cups, t-shirts, pom poms, etc. As companies pay to have their logo on your spirit items, you receive them for free, which means that you can either keep them for your use by the school or sell them to make more money for the school.
Books
If there’s one thing that every school needs, it’s a well-stocked library, sadly, when there are budget cuts, it can be the library that suffers. There are a couple of different ways to get more books for your school library. Why not encourage the local community and parents to donate books to be sold for a second-hand book fair at the school, to raise money for buying new titles? Alternatively, you could ask parents to drop off age-appropriate books that they have at home, which they no longer need. A book drop off could help your school keep a regular supply of books for the school library. Donating books is not only a great way to get more books for the school library, but it will also make books a talking point for the kids, and help fuel a love of reading.
