BRIO Smart Engine with Action Tunnels
My kids ADORE their wooden train tracks and trains. We have a mix of different brands, but our new FAVORITE piece is the BRIO Smart Engine and two Action Tunnels! These fun tunnels and battery-powered engine add a whole new realm of creativity to their creations!
The BRIO Smart Engine is fantastic! There are three buttons, a low battery light, headlights, and back magnet. The back wheels power the train and are the perfect size for our wooden tracks. Push the front button to go forward, middle to stop, and back to go backward. The back black spot is the low battery light and not a button.
I am genuinely impressed at the Smart Engine’s ability to move forward, backward, and around curves. It moves smoothly and consistently, not getting stuck easily. Since it’s only the back wheels pushing, hills are sometimes tricky since the back wheels aren’t necessarily touching at all times as it goes over the top of the hill, depending on how much weight it’s pulling.
The Action Tunnels are also a great way to add creativity to the tracks! In conjunction with the Smart Engine, the tunnels control the movement. The red tunnel makes the train stop, along with a fun stopping sound and unintelligible speaking like at a train station. The green tunnel with the U-turn causes the train to change direction. This is great for backing into a station, switching tracks, and whatever else your kiddos want to create!
BRIO tracks and trains are a great learning and play opportunity for kids of many ages. Not only do they learn to problem solve, create functional loops and tracks, and use their imagination, the Smart Engine and Action Tunnels can take the creativity to new levels!
