Mavea Water Filter System Review
Clean, good-tasting water is important. Especially in the summer heat. Mavea wants to help your family have access to cold, great water! Good filter systems can be expensive to install and in-fridge filters take up a lot of space. Mavea skips the expensive filter system to bring you an innovative MicroDisc Filter System that can fit their water bottles, carafe, or pitcher!
Mavea Water: The Taste
Mavea water tastes like good water. Our water in Rochester isn’t bad, we drink it out of the tap frequently. Our water in Arizona was horrible and I wish we would have had this system when we lived there! Since our water tastes fine to start with, it doesn’t make a great test subject. So I tried it with my water at work, which doesn’t taste great, and it definitely improved the taste!
Then I filled a bottle at the lake. The water there looks decently clear but smells like duck poop and dead fish. Gross. After going through the filter, the water no longer had the little lake-floaters and smelled a million times better. The filters aren’t made to filter out bacteria, so it’s still not safe to drink lake water, but I was impressed at the smell improvement!
Friends with horrible tap water, have you tried these Mavea filters at all? You should!
Mavea Water: The Filters
The MicroDisc filters are simple little discs that fit in any of the bottles, carafe or pitcher. The discs can be soaked or used to be activated. Then the one disc can filter 60 gallons! The best thing about these filters is that they don’t leave behind the little black flecks! Just clean, clear water to be enjoyed.
Mavea Water: The Pitcher
The pitcher is great! It’s the size I would expect a pitcher to be, similar to the size of a gallon of milk, so it fits nicely in my fridge. The feet have rubber so it won’t slip and slide, and the whole thing is dishwasher-safe. My favorite part is that the pour-through lid means I don’t even have to open it to fill it. The water from the faucet goes down through the door on top into the filter portion. The only downside is that the filter is near the bottom, so it takes multiple fills to fill the pitcher.
Mavea Water: The Carafe
The Mavea carafe is skinny and tall, which is fantastic when my fridge is too full to fit the pitcher. It fills easily by twisting off the top. Then simply pour out either on the sides. The carafe is also dishwasher safe. Again, the filter portion extends towards the bottom, so physics limits how much you can fill it at one time. Great and stylish addition to my kitchen.
Mavea Water: The Bottles
The Mavea bottles are a great addition to any outing. They are water bottle – size so they fit in your backpack or lunchpack like any bottle would. The filter is placed right in the lid, so you can fill the bottle anywhere, anytime and have filtered water with every sip. Filtering the water as you drink does slow down the water flow, so you can’t chug it. If you are ok drinking slowly, these are awesome for bringing along to be able to drink clean water anywhere.

I love the individual bottles that you can refill and they still filtrate! My kids bring water to school & these would be perfect to add to their backpacks!

A filtered water bottle would be great for refilling anywhere out on the go. I would even pack the pitcher n the cooler n the car for road trips to avoid having to either carry or buy bottled water.

We have a water filtration system for our drinking water for our home but When I run out of that at work, I’m SOL because I can’t stand the taste of the water out of the fountains. This would be so nice to have so I can get the water I need during the day!
