If you’ve been going house hunting recently and you are on the lookout for a new start in life, finding the right community can mean everything. And when we start to find somewhere that is good to raise children or is cheap, we wouldn’t necessarily think about moving to a so-called “hipster” community. After all, these areas like San Francisco or Des Moines may seem like a strange choice to raise a family, but let’s list some of the positives that anybody can benefit from when moving to a community like this.
The Coffee Culture
If you’ve decided to move somewhere to raise children, you need a coffee shop on the corner that serves just the right dose of caffeine! A place like Dark Matter Coffee in Chicago or Sightglass Coffee in San Francisco can give you your daily cappuccino and also get you out of the house into a vibrant place after a particularly rough night! The great thing about coffee culture now is that it’s everywhere and people are looking for more independent chains. The great thing about these independent chains that they are more welcoming to families rather than being full of stuffy middle-aged people tutting and looking over the shoulder because your baby is crying!
The Scope For Work
Moving somewhere new could mean that you’ve got to go where the work is. In so-called hipster communities, there are lots of startups and scope for development. Yes, in a cliched sense, there are many creative careers, but there are as many careers with growth attached to them. It’s not the mainstay of artists that work at their home, but there’s plenty of startups that are linked to the marketing industry, which means that there are so many different jobs under the marketing banner. From website design to creative content as well as project management, there’s a lot to choose from!
You’ll Never Get Bored!
One of the most obvious components of moving to a place with a strong hipster culture is that there’s a lot going on! Yes, you’ve got your farmers’ markets and art galleries, but you’ve also got your movie theaters as well as family events. Many people feel that to raise a family, they’ve got to move to the suburbs, but when there’s only so much your children can do, and they get bored, they inevitably gravitate towards more vibrant areas. While you might not be able to move into the middle of a city, when you move to a specific area where there is plenty to do, there is also a wider variety of attractions. If you want to raise children that are more cultured or inquisitive, you can’t do better than this!
A Forward-thinking Culture
We can move to places where we are treated as outsiders. When we go somewhere new we can feel like we are a little bit behind the times, or we have to show our worth. And sometimes we move to places where the people are so set in their ways they won’t ever accept us into their lives. But when we choose a progressive, forward-thinking community, there’s a lot more acceptance. So many people have to overcome cultural barriers or differences in opinion, but when you go to a so-called hipster community, there are so many individuals there, that being “normal” means that you are, in essence, an outsider! Going somewhere that’s more accepting is hard to come by in some places, but when you start to think about your own beliefs and lifestyles, you need a community that reflects these. Many people can move to an area where a vegan is an anomaly! If you want to find somewhere that caters to so many different walks of life going to to a community that is classed as the domain of the hipster can mean that you might get a few too many tattoo parlors or art galleries for your individual taste, but you’ll find people that are tolerant, understanding, and progressive.
When we move somewhere to start a family, or we already have kids in tow, the obvious thought is to go to a quiet community. But there are plenty of peaceful communities that are progressive and diverse. These hipster communities can seem quirky from the outside, but when you’re trying to find somewhere that you can fit into but is also a way for you to express yourself, there’s nowhere better you can go! Being a hipster doesn’t necessarily mean listening to a type of music or wearing hats and sunglasses indoors! It’s a way of life for many!
