If you’re planning to throw a party in your home, there is a lot of preparation involved. If you want to enjoy your party and ensure everything runs smoothly, with minimum work needed, here are some tips.
Make sure your dishwasher is working
Parties mean lots of washing up. Even if you’re holding a children’s party and opt for paper plates, washing up will mount up in the sink, and you’ll wonder how it accumulated so quickly.
This is one occasion where you’ll want to rely on your dishwasher, so if it lets you down, you’ll be in the kitchen washing dishes in the sink for most of the party.
Finding replacement parts, such as Bosch dishwasher parts, is easier to do before the party. So, make sure you test your dishwasher the day before or earlier if you can, to avoid missing your own party. Then you can focus on making sure all your guests are happy.
Plan the cooking or hire a caterer
If you’re hosting the party for your friends, you’ll want to provide enough hot food for them to eat. If you’re not great at cooking for a large number of people, a caterer might be the best option. This will take some of the pressure off you.
If the party is for your child, finger foods are more acceptable. Some can be cooked in advance and eaten cold, while other party food doesn’t need cooking at all. You can also get your child to help you bake a cake or other treats.
Check up on guests who haven’t responded
If you’re trying to ensure everyone has enough food or drink, you need to know how many guests are attending. This means chasing up any people you’ve invited but haven’t heard from. A friendly call or email with the date you need to know by should be enough. If you explain you need to know for catering reasons, this can prevent anyone from turning up after failing to confirm.
Consider whether you’ll have entertainment
Depending on whether the party is for yourself and your grown-up friends, or for your children and their friends, entertainment options can differ. Clowns and magicians go down well at a children’s party. Or costume characters such as those from their favorite tv shows are great for younger children.
Entertainment for a grown-up’s party could include a DJ, or a bingo caller with prizes you’ve supplied., depending on your interests and what your friends might enjoy.
Pick a theme
Both adults and children love themed parties, as it gives them the chance to dress up and show off their knowledge of the party’s theme. It can take some of the uncertainty out of planning. Quizzes can be centered around the theme, and so can food and drink. You might even find music that fits with this.
A themed party provides structure and gives everyone something to focus on.
So, whatever type of party you’re planning to hold in your home, being prepared is the most important thing. As the host, you’ll be responsible for ensuring everyone enjoys themselves, but with the right planning, you can have fun too.
