It’s opening day at the Minnesota State Fair! The great Minnesota get together is a fun time for people of all ages and stages. We took our toddler and preschooler there today for a day packed with fun and food. We filled our bellies with cookies and deep fried candy, entertained ourselves with booths and learning, and avoided the rides because they cost so much! One awesome booth of note at the fair this year is the Boy Scouts of America!
The Boy Scouts of America booth is great because is has a ropes course! I’m not talking a playground rope ladder either. This is a harness-wearing, stomach-tingling ropes course with trained workers. You have to be 48 inches tall and wear closed toed shoes. Since my littles are a bit too small, the boy scout leader actually watched my kids so I could go up! It was so fun! I went across a wiggling bridge, walked a tightrope, climbed two nets, slid down a fore pole and more! All in the safety of my harness. It’s a test of courage and adventure, which are big parts of Boy Scouts. All this amazingness is FREE. Absolutely FREE!
Boy Scouts’ theme this year is Heroes Start Here. Hence the fun superhero cape to pose with for pictures! They have a focus on building character, leadership and life skills in the future men of our communities. Regardless of background or ability, anyone can learn to be a hero in their leadership and service. I love that Boy Scouts continues to foster this in children! There are Boy Scouts, leaders and parents at the booth to offer more information to interested families as well.
Boy Scouts are having fundraising events throughout the fall and a sign-up event on September 22nd. Check out their website for more information. And make sure you stop by their awesome booth at the MN State Fair!
There is also a giveaway of a fantastic pack of kid-friendly camping gear, worth about $175, that you can enter easily right here!
