Top 5 Tips for Having a Newborn in an Apartment
Raising a newborn in a studio or one-bedroom apartment may seem a little inconvenient and unconventional, but it’s definitely not impossible. It definitely had its difficulties, but all new families have those. Luckily, we have assembled a list of our favorite tips for apartment dwellers with a new bundle of joy.
1. Become a Space Saver
Even if you don’t live in a smaller apartment, you’ll want to pick your furniture and belongings wisely. A child comes with much more equipment than you’d ever think about, especially as they grow older. A play mat, a bouncer, a swing, a rocker, toys, and diapers can take up a lot of space. You may need to part with that old bean-bag chair from college.
You should also implement space-saving techniques when possible. For instance, a shoe-rack hanging on a closet door can act as a supply holder that contains wipes, baby ointment, pumping gear, bottles, binkies, and more.
2. Get Outdoors
Once your baby is old enough to be out and about, make sure to get outside, for everyone’s health. An apartment home can be cramped and dusty, and you’ll want to make sure your baby is getting enough Vitamin D, through drops or through a little sunshine. Sun can help your mood, too. Many mothers experience postpartum depression, and while you should definitely tell your doctor if you experience any depression-like symptoms, getting out and about can help in the interim.
3. Let your Neighbors Know
Usually, the walls in apartments aren’t quite sound-proof, so the neighbors might be experiencing those late-night struggles with you. Dropping off a picture of your newborn with a nice letter, or simply knocking on the door and letting them know the situation can go a long way toward easing tensions. If they aren’t understanding about the inevitable noise, then they’re not neighbors worth knowing.
4. Get Help for the First Few Days
Regardless of how you give birth, you’re going to be in a lot of pain and discomfort in the beginning. If you can get another pair of hands (in addition to your significant other) to help out, it can be a life-saver. Plus, they can help watch your newborn so you both can get a little of the oh-so-rare shuteye.
5. Meal Prep is Goes a Long Way
You might not realize how much time a newborn can consume. You’ll probably forget to eat one more than one occasion. Rather than living off of takeout and pizza, freeze a few meals the week leading up to your due date. You’ll be thanking yourself when you’re up at 2 a.m. and craving a filling meal.

Along with every thing that appears to be developing within this particular subject matter, your opinions are generally fairly stimulating. On the other hand, I appologize, but I can not give credence to your whole strategy, all be it exciting none the less. It would seem to everyone that your comments are actually not totally rationalized and in reality you are your self not even completely confident of the argument. In any case I did appreciate looking at it.
I went over this site and I think you have a lot of wonderful info , saved to bookmarks (:.
