A great stop for your family trip to San Antonio, Texas is the San Antonio Zoo! With lots of animals, some opportunities for interaction, and a play area, the Zoo is a great family-friendly stop!
The best part of the San Antonio Zoo is the animals! From hippos to flamingoes, there are tons to see. Our favorites were the big cats, elephants, and butterflies. Of course, some of the animals were sleeping. We went just after 10 and were lucky to see some of the animals being fed. (If you see a worker putting food in an area, stick around until they leave to see the animal come back out and eat!)
Lots of the animal enclosures are set up in fun ways. There are bird enclosures to go into, caves to walk through to see big cats, and a couple bridges over a river with more creatures. The amphibians get there own buildings, and the large African animals have their own corner to rule. The whole zoo becomes a bit of a maze, so make sure you grab a map and keep an eye on the signs to know where you are.
The major kid-friendly stops within the zoo are the petting zoo Fun Farm at the back and the Tiny Tot Nature Spot. The Fun Farm has goats and pigs to feel and brush. It’s not big but it’s fun. And they have brushes to pet the animals with!
Plan on spending at least 30 minutes at the Tiny Tot Nature Spot though! It has an outdoor house-front and kitchen area to let imagination run wild. Then step inside to play with toys big and small, learn more about animals, and crawl through a tunnel right into the prairie dog exhibit. Right now there is construction right in front of the Tiny Tot spot, don’t forget to go around back of it! We almost missed it the first time past!
There are food options throughout the zoo, but it’s a bit spendy. You can bring in water and small snacks to munch on, just don’t feed the animals (the monkeys will beg). There are water fountains to refill your bottles as well. It is a lot of walking, mostly outdoors, so keep hydrated and be prepared for the weather.
Beyond food, other extra costs are the Butterfly Exhibit ($1.50), Carousel ($3), train ride, feeding the giraffes ($7 for 3 lettuce leaves), and souvenirs. There are fun little stations to make the flattened pennies or plastic animal figures. Parking is free. All-in-all, not a terribly expensive outing.
We had a great time at the San Antonio Zoo and definitely recommend it to any families visiting San Antonio! If you plan on visiting more than once, look into a membership. Check out more online and on Facebook before your visit! (And if you have a 5 year old obsessed with butts and farts, make sure you get a picture with a hippo butt!).

Hey there! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing months of hard work due to no backup. Do you have any solutions to prevent hackers?

Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You clearly know what youre talking about, why throw away your intelligence on just posting videos to your weblog when you could be giving us something informative to read?

I’m impressed, I have to admit. Genuinely rarely should i encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you may have hit the nail about the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is an element that insufficient persons are speaking intelligently about. I am delighted we came across this during my look for something with this.

Appreciating the persistence you put into your blog and in depth information you present. It’s nice to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same out of date rehashed material. Excellent read! I’ve saved your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.
